Emerging Writer Overview
Writing Lessons and Resources to Teach Early Writers
Pre-kindergarteners, kindergarteners, and other emerging writers begin to experiment with letters, sounds, words, and the overall function and structure of language. Writing A-Z offers a number of emergent writing resources that meet students’ specific needs, such as writing lessons, alphabet resources, high-frequency word practice, labeling activities, and writing prompts.
Emergent Writing Lessons and additional resources provide opportunities for increasing letter and word recognition and word and sentence building. The resources also help spark ideas for original student compositions. When appropriate, resources are offered in both Print style and Slant Print style sets.
