Why Use Summer Writing

We all know children lose literacy skills over the summer. But skill loss in writing can be avoided if students are encouraged to write during the summer months. Students can practice essential skills during the summer with writing activities from Writing A-Z.

How to Use Summer Writing

Print out resources to assemble summer writing packs for all the students in your class. Send the summer writing pack home with each student, including the helpful tips for parents so that parents can support their children's writing in age-appropriate ways.

Resources completed over the summer can serve as great get-to-know-you activities during the first week of the next school year. Coordinate summer assignments with a student's teacher next year and have the teacher ask the student to bring completed resources to class at the beginning of the school year to share with the rest of the class.
